The UNITE to End Violence against Women initiative is a multiyear effort to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world. The initiative, launched in 2008 under the leadership of the UN Secretary-General, was created to support the civil society-led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign around the world. UNITE calls on governments, civil society, women’s organizations, young people, the private sector, media, and the UN system to join forces to address the global pandemic of violence against women and girls. The global theme of this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, which runs from 25 November to 10 December 2023, is “UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls”.

Law enforcement has profoundly changed with the participation of women police officers. Across the ASEAN region, women police officers have increased operational effectiveness, built community trust, and elevated the security priorities of women and girls. This photo exhibit spotlights women law enforcement officers in the ASEAN region in the line of duty and highlights their vital contribution to building safe communities.

”Women in Focus” is showcased this year at Alliance Française Bangkok after my pictures were part of the exhibition “Women Uplift Women” organized by former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova for last year’s International Women’s day.

Leading up to the International Women’s Day 2020, this new exhibition celebrates all Women in their role, achievements, and contribution to their own community. These images have been designed to initiate discussions about women and who they are across geographical locations, cultures, and identities. This project aims at acknowledging women as heroes and honoring them on this International Women’s Day.
