Flash Flood in Chiang Mai | 2024

In 2024, Chiang Mai was hit by sudden and severe flash floods following days of heavy rainfall. Streets turned into rivers, local businesses were submerged, and entire neighborhoods were forced to adapt overnight to the rising waters. This photo series documents the immediate impact of the floods on residents — from shopkeepers protecting their storefronts with makeshift barriers, to children navigating ankle-deep streets, and emergency responders offering support. The images capture both the vulnerability and the resilience of communities affected by climate-related disruptions.
